Salinas is located eight miles
inland from Monterey Bay, 325 miles north of Los Angeles and 101 miles
south of San Francisco, at the head of the Salinas Valley. It is bisected
by Highway 101 and linked to the Monterey Peninsula by Highway 68.
Salinas is known by the odd moniker "salad bowl
of the world." Located in coastal California assures the region of
almost-perfect weather, cooled by the inland breeze yet warmed by the
strong Western sun.
Salinas citizens are proud of native John Steinbeck, (Steinbeck
House) who wrote about his Salinas Valley home in novels and stories
like East of Eden and Of Mice and Men. Steinbeck's
contributions to Salinas are celebrated yearly in the summertime
Steinbeck Festival.
Greenfield is located in the heart of the Salinas Valley, Its friendly
atmosphere crest an at-home environment
not only for the people who live in
Greenfield, but for those who visit.
Greenfield traces its roots to 1905
and the creation of Clark Colony Water Company, which built a network of
irrigation
canals and filled them with water from the nearby Arroyo Seco River.
A small town was included in the
organizer's plans, and thus was Greenfield born. Aptly named in light of
the fertile farmland which surrounds it. The city was incorporated in
1947. Today Greenfield prides itself on bring a modern, full service

King City
has historically been one of Monterey County's major agricultural
centers.
The region is regarded as North America's premier vegetable
production area. Because King City is strategically situated between Los
Angeles and San Francisco, the city can capitalize on a huge
concentration of suppliers and a large dynamic market.
Soledad
meaning "solitude" is a bustling small farm town that is quickly cha nging, with new housing being built. Soledad, is
the oldest Salinas valley established settlement.
Soledad was founded
by Catalina Manzaneli de Munras in 1873, named in honor of the brave
padres who had lived in the now Soledad Mission. |
